KPMG has established a new Client Technology & Innovation group to accelerate AI-native business development, led by Todd Lohr. This restructuring aims to elevate AI and innovation strategy directly under the CEO, reflecting a significant shift in the firm's approach to professional services.
KPMG has combined its AI, innovation, and ecosystem functions into a new unit called Client Technology & Innovation (CT&I), effective September 22. Todd Lohr, a 15-year veteran of the firm, will lead this new group, which reports directly to CEO Tim Walsh.
The formation of CT&I coincides with the retirement of Steve Chase, the previous vice chair and global head of AI & Digital Innovation. Lohr's leadership is intended to drive transformative change at KPMG, positioning AI and innovation as central to the firm's future strategy.
CT&I will focus on four main areas: products and platforms strategy, commercial infrastructure, firmwide AI and data strategy, and innovation/incubation. The group aims to create new business models and incubate disruptive ideas, with the potential for significant commercial outcomes.
Lohr's background includes experience in building KPMG's early data and AI practices and managing technology partnerships. He emphasizes the need for KPMG to adapt to market changes and leverage its talent for innovation.
KPMG has also developed an AI tool named Hawk to assess the accuracy of its content and mitigate issues related to AI-generated inaccuracies. Lohr has highlighted the importance of responsible AI use and the need for the workforce to take ownership of their outputs.
