Ooredoo, Nvidia, and Nokia launch AI compute platform Zankore in Indonesia
Ooredoo Group, in partnership with Nvidia and Nokia, has introduced Zankore, Indonesia's first dedicated AI compute platform. The initiative aims to secure 1 gigawatt of AI capacity over three years, targeting significant revenue and EBITDA growth in Southeast Asia's expanding AI market.
Ooredoo Group is developing Indonesia's first dedicated AI compute and neocloud platform called Zankore, aimed at enabling enterprises to operate AI models at scale.
The platform is a collaboration with Nvidia, Nokia, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) and plans to contract 1 gigawatt (GW) of AI capacity over the next three years, with an initial 200 megawatts (MW) expected to generate approximately $13 billion in revenue and $9 billion in cumulative EBITDA over five to six years.
Ooredoo is committing $800 million over five years as a founding shareholder with a 49% stake in Zankore. Funding for the initial capacity will come from a mix of equity and debt, sourced from various data center providers across Indonesia.
Zankore will offer GPU-as-a-Service, allowing users to rent high-performance GPUs for AI model training, and will utilize Nvidia technology to optimize power usage, potentially increasing compute power by up to 40%.
Ooredoo's CEO Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo emphasized the strategic importance of Indonesia's growing digital economy, which is projected to exceed $130 billion by 2030, and highlighted the demand for AI-ready data centers in the region.
The AI compute capacity demand in Southeast Asia is expected to grow significantly, driven by digital transformation and cloud adoption, with projections indicating a quadrupling of regional power demand by 2035.
Jakarta is currently the primary hub for cloud and hyperscale data centers in Indonesia, hosting major global companies like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Ooredoo aims to capitalize on this momentum and strengthen its position in the data center market across Southeast Asia.
