Qualcomm's CEO discusses collaboration with AI firms on new wearable technology

Amon described the concept of an 'ecosystem of you,' where devices like glasses and earbuds work together with an AI agent to assist users in daily tasks.
He emphasized that this year marks the beginning of a shift towards AI-driven autonomy in consumer devices, with a significant market presence expected by 2027 or 2028.
Despite initial reports suggesting Qualcomm's involvement in an OpenAI smartphone, Amon clarified that the focus is on non-phone hardware.
The competition in the wearable tech space is anticipated to be intense, with no single dominant product expected to emerge.
Amon referenced ByteDance's Doubao Mobile Assistant as an example of early developments in AI-driven devices, which faced regulatory challenges but demonstrated market interest.
He believes that, similar to past technological advancements, society will adapt to the integration of AI into daily life, despite potential concerns about control and misuse.
